4 May 2013 - I brought my family to Ciao Baby Cucina at the Silverstar casino for a evening out at the recommended Ciao Baby Cucina restaurant. The food and service was great - until the bill came through.
Apart from a few pizzas and a seafood platter, we ordered three 1l bottles of still water. What we received was nothing fancy - not from any French spring or something of that sort. Just a simple red-labelled bottle (i forget the brand). In my family were a few older members who due to the cold weather asked our waitress to get 3-4 glasses of warm tap water. Again nothing fancy - just warm water with a slice of lemon is what we received.
Here's the bill shock - R43 per bottle of still water (1 liter). On top of this, R30 (labelled as "Extra honey"???) for the glasses of WARM TAP WATER!!! Total for 3 liters of water - R150!! Ridiculous!
After getting over the price I was quoted for still water, I questioned the "extra honey" with our waitress. Her response - her manager asked her to charge this for the request for warm water. I asked for her manager but she simply walked away. As a regular customer I was shocked.
Ciao Baby Silverstar - next time ask for my kidney!
