I tonight (Saturday 25 May) suggested to my dinner partner that we eat at Ciao Baby Montecasino as I am a regular there at least once a week. The staff (Elton, Dumisani, Yolanda and Sylvia) know me by name when I call to book a table.
Princess is my favourite waiter as she is one of the few waiters there who actually listens to the detail of any order. She also seems to understand the English language well enough to operate as a server of good food.
We unfortunately tonight were given Sipho as a waiter who (amidst good intent) offered shocking service. It took close to half an hour for him to heat my cappuccino and beg for a bread basket. My partner's Scotch was given without water - which he asked for. This set the trend for what followed right to the end of the evening when I called the manager and asked if Sipho had undergone any training as a waitor at all. He assured me he did and was brought in from the Eastgate branch.
If Sipho reflects the kind of service Ciao Baby offers then I will quite happily switch to The Met next to the Mug and Bean where I've had superb service after my dinner companion asked: "Why on earth do you come here? " and I cringed with embarrassment!!!
