On 29/02/2008 I purchased a new SAMSUNG fridge/freezer combo unit @ R10 999.00. The unit gave problems just before expiry of the 3 year warranty but was repaired with great reluctance by the manufacturer.
This year in March it seemed as if the same problems was surfacing again which gradually became worse. This resulted in a service call three weeks ago by an approved service provider. Three visits and R1 011.94 later they had to move the unit to their workshop to be checked and a week later I was informed that the unit was irreparable.
Two weeks without a fridge/freezer and a week-long battle of numerous unanswered phone calls and emails to SAMSUNG I was given the hope that they would consider replacing the unit. However after communication once again broke up, I was informed that they decided against such action.
MY WARNING TO EVERYBODY OUT THERE: AVOID PURCHASING A SAMSUNG PRODUCT AS IT DOES NOT LAST LONGER THAN 5 YEARS.
THEIR SERVICE IS EVASIVE, INEFFICIENT, UNPROFESSIONAL AND NOT IN THE LEAST USER FRIENDLY. BAD BAD NEWS.
