I am a student registered with Unisa, Cape Town for a BCom: Informatics. This semester I was meant to register for MAC2601 as per the curriculum I printed last year which only had one prerequisite module which is along the lines of my studies. This year when I tried to register for MAC I got an error saying I do not meet the prerequisite requirements and that I need to do a first year module that will not count towards my degree, meaning an extra module and extra costs.
I find it unfair that Unisa adds and changes modules for a degree they want to phase out by 2016 and they expect you to complete the degree by then but yet they add extra modules that have no influence what so ever to the degree that one is doing. Now I have to take an additional module, pay for that module and be expected to complete the degree before it gets phased out and the additional module was not in the original curriculum in order for one to make proper planning for subject selection.
I find this unfair and at this rate with the changes and additions Unisa is making sure that you never get done. At the current moment that is how I feel.
