I cancelled my studies with UNISA last year (having paid about 80%)-they ignored my request until the cut off date for cancellations passed, then kept all my money AND cancelled my studies because I hadn't paid the remaining 20% (of course I didn't pay more-I tried to cancel more than once!). After extensive arguing back and forth, I received a credit of about 20% of what I paid. Almost R7000 "donated" to UNISA.
Then at the end of the year, they took most of that 20% anyway after I "wrote the exam and reinstated the module"... for an exam I NEVER WROTE and a module I had CANCELLED LONG BEFORE. To top it off - I have a FAIL on my transcripts for an exam I never wrote and wasn't registered for. I emailed UNISA and got a reply from an Evelyn who said "please note that there is nothing wrong with your account". Is that reverse psychology maybe? YES THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG!
Again, if you don't live close to Pretoria and can try to sort out UNISA's admin mistakes in person, DO NOT STUDY THROUGH UNISA. Save up, there are other correspondence places that aren't that pricey. Studies can be stressful enough without the administration completely working against you.
