During January 2011, Afristruct Projects were handed a R1 300 000.00 contract to erect the superstructure of two units in Musgrave Durban, for completion on 01 May 2011. On 01 May 2011 the project was far from complete, having paid almost R1 100 000.00. The contract was terminated after the contractor claimed R591 000.00 without completing the project.. A dispute was declared and the matter went into Arbitration. During 2012 the project was completed and the Arbitration concluded during July 2013, resulting in a tie. The Contractor Afristruct has since issued a revised claim for the sum of R731 000.00. This is outrageous, especially that the contractor was in default.
I have learnt from several reliable sources that we were not the only victim of this unscrupulous contractor who is trying to expunge monies from us innocent victims. This has turned our lives upside down, and heaped misery on my family and for a period of three years. Let this be known that companies of this nature, err in their quotes just to secure work, and mess their clients thereafter, There is no place for the Afristructs of this world in our society.
