A truck delivering bricks for SmartStone Paarl smashed the right wing mirror off my parked car and then tried to drive away before being cornered by ADT bicycle patrol for a hit and run. Their driver, Basil September, played dumb and said it wasn't him after the ADT bicycle patrol saw him do it, then got aggressive and offensive when I confronted him and told him he had to pay for the damages. After grabbing my shoulder and calling me "baby" he then left the scene of the accident without giving me his details! The manager of Smart Stone Paarl, Marius, yesterday said that he would pay the damages even though Basil September is only a contractor to Smart Stone because he did not want the name of his company dragged down on condition that I could supply a police accident report, ADT incident report and a quote for the replacement of the mirror. I spent last night and this morning getting all the required documents and have called Marius several times today only to have him dodge me and then his secretary tell me that they have thought about it further and are no longer prepared to take any responsibility for the incident as Basil September is only a contractor.
