I got Brian's details on Gumtree and after interviewing him, I felt that he could do the job. I paid Brian on 16 May and he promised he would start a week later. 2 weeks later, nothing had been done. Eventually when he pitched, he dug the trenches and then vanished again.By end June, there was no improvement, and after confronting him, he slowly made progress. I should have known that he was a and a because non of the building material was delivered. We were now in August, and still the wall had not been finished. What scared me was that when I tried to get hold of him, he never returned my calls. I had to threaten him before he showed up again. When we confronted him again, he said he had money problems and that he was getting divorced, but he promised that the wall would be done in a week's time. He pitched on Monday, painted the wall a funny color without putting primer first on it, then he vanished completely again. Had it not been fo the address he had witten on the quote, we wouldn't have been able to get hold of him. It turned out that the address was his brother's place, and it was a street away from where we stayed. The wall is crumbling, and still not finished
