I have had a very similar experience as a previous complainant. I needed to have a bathroom basin tap replaced and as I had received a flyer from the Master Plumber (Richard North), I contacted him. He provided the quote AFTER stripping the tap and outlet. The quote was R2900. I queried this quote and was informed that the job would require 3 hours of work. He also claimed to have this excellent service record. He would accept R2500 if he was paid in cash. As he had already stripped the tap etc, I let him continue. He had already worked 30 minutes, but when he returned the next day the job only took another 30 minutes. I again queried the quote of R2500 and he then started quoting call-out fees and things that had not been mentioned before.
He would also not accept an EFT payment and demanded cash. I have still not received an invoice for the work done!!
