I purchased a slow combustion wood stove from Christie's Wholesalers in Pretoria just before winter 2012. On the advise of Geoff, the owner at Christies, I contracted James Oosterhuis from Ferrer Construction to install the stove for me.
After installation, we had numerous problems with smoke leakage which left my house with unbearable smell and after some serious ranting and a visit from the agents of Godin, I got the problem fixed. Well, so I thought. Along came summer and we discovered water leaks where the chimney goes through the roof. The stove and chimney pipe are covered in rust now.
I contacted James systematically by mail and phone for the last 6 months. He has mostly ignored my requests for help and on the odd occasion that I did get hold of him, he promised to come soonest and fix the problem. I have also mentioned this to Geoff at Christies Wholesalers, who didn't really seem to interested. After all, why should he bother, he's made his sale...
I will probably have to resort to paying someone else to fix it. My only advise here is to stay away from Ferrer Construction.
