I purchased two Acer Aspire 5551 notebooks in 2010, for piece of mind i purchased the acer advantage extended warranties as well... One machine was purchased for myself and the other for my mother. both machines have worked absolutely flawlessly for some time i noticed that the top left hand corner of my machine where the upper and lower covers join next to the hinge would open or come apart it appears that the hinge has come loose and is causing the cover to separate i sent the machine through incredible connection for repair seeing as there was a bit of warranty left. It was logged on the 11/01 and took nearly a week to collect a quote was sent for R1239.76 so i called and spoke to freedom who updated the warranty status and said repair dept will be updated. now acer claim that the fault is "physical damage". I have requested proof of said physical damage on numerous occasions i received one rude response via email from freedom and no response further from my following 3 emails. just to be sure i checked the 2nd machine and discovered that it too has the exact same problem... Absolutely disgusted in the lack of service and no desire to go the extra mile... Acer case id: 7125068S
