DaimlerChrysler South Africa
Chrysler SA should be forced to update software

I bought a very nice new Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and took delivery mid January 2013. Great car... until I used the Radio (scrambled frequencies all the time) the Bluetooth function sometimes worked, most of the times it did not. Great difficulty in pairing my Samsung Galaxy and making it work. Then I used the NAV function, result : 2 out of 10 destinations were not found. The system sent me into a circle for 15 minutes and did not know where it was. The Dealership tried software update, but the RHP version apparently did not accept it. In the end Fourways Jeep imported a new Radio unit and installed it. Now the Bluetooth function worked well, the Radio was OK, but the NAV system problems remained unresolved. I started digging, found NAVTEQ in SA (map software supplier) and a very helpful Person confirmed my suspicion: the NAV software was ca 2 1/2 years old and badly compiled. That is clearly Chrysler's responsibility and the dealership cannot be blamed, they tried their best. Chrysler was unable to provide an estimate when the problems with their UConnect system would be resolved. I returned the car and cancelled the purchase!!!
