Mercedes-Benz South Africa
Service expired without Proper notification

We bought a second-hand 2007 GL Merc from Mercedes Kimberly Sept 2012. It was due for a service March 2013. On 04/03/2013 I phoned New vaal Motors to book a service. An appointment was scheduled for 20/03/2013. When I took the car in this morning, I was informed that the guarantee had expired 12 days ago. I am very unhappy because I was NOT informed about the date of expiry. After phoning Merc Customer Care they informed me that we were given documents with the expiry date. They also claimed that the documents state that we need to book the appointment 1 month in advance. If it is so important to service the car before the expiry date, why did they not inform us PROPERLY instead of just handing us a bunch of documents. They could at least have pointed out this important fact! We did not sign these documents. Why did New Vaal Motors not try and accommodate us before the expiry date or at least informed me about the expiry date? They have everything on their system? I am tired of companies just slipping important information hoping that you do not pick it up and therefore ending up paying up! If it had expired three months ago I would have understand but 12 days?
