Returned parcel from outside SA on request

I recently sold a rather expensive item on Gumtree and posted it to the buyer in Nigeria, thinking that only after I provided the tracking number I would be able to access the funds transferred to my account as payment. However, after I had already posted the item via Ems Couriers, I discovered that the "buyer" was in truth an internet syndicate and that there were no funds waiting to be transferred into my account.
Five days after I initially posted the item, I phoned the Ems call center on two separate days and inquired whether it was at all possible to stop the item (which had left South Africa the day after I posted it) from being delivered/collected in Nigeria. The last time I phoned was the day before Christmas, and a friendly lady on the other side of the line, Ntombi, promised that she would look into the matter. I did not expect anything to come of it, but behold, a month after I posted it, the package was returned to me in perfect condition!
The courier at my door specified that it was being returned upon my request.
Thanks to the Ems call center staff and everyone else down the chain going the extra mile! I am most impressed by this excellent service.
