My car interface system had cd drive problem. So i booked in the car to for Mercedes to check the problem. I was informed that the type of repair required will be covered by maintenance plan should it be mechanical fault. My interface system was removed and sent to their approved repairer. I was informed after 3 days that a coin was found in the CD unit and it would cost R 4000 to repair. As the damage was caused by an outside effect, i was told that i will have to bare the cost of repairs.
I did not challenge that i indicated that as i do not have the money, the unit should be put back and i will fix it as soon as i have the funds.
After this i go not notification from the dealer to by my car so that the unit can be fitted. Upon my initiative the service manager, Andrew, indicated that i can bring the car for the unit to be fitted. When the unit was fitted on 17 December 2013, it was worse than when i left it with them. It has a continouos beeping sound which is unbearable. The sound is a hazard as will not be able to travel long distance as it is impossible to concentrate. I feel either the repairer intentionally made the unit worse to ensure that i fix the radio immediately.
