Hyundai South Africa
Want to do repairs that are not needed

My 2 year old i20 went in to Hyundai Centurion for its 2nd yearly service yesterday (29/1/13). Because I only drive around town it does not even have 20 000 km on the clock but has to be serviced annually. Firstly, the dealer phoned me to say there is a chip on my window, can they fix it? I could not remember a chip, as it is a new windscreen, but thought, maybe I missed it, and said OK, repair it (R150).

Then they phoned me and said my cars' breakpads are almost finished, can they replace it at R1500? I thought that could not be and said no, leave it. When I collected my car I noticed that 7 out of 10 cars that were serviced there that day had "chips repaired" on their paperwork!? I asked the lady (Theresa) how that could be and she said she does not know, an independent company fixes the chips. Sounds fishy to me!

But to cap it, last night my husband removed the front wheel on my car and we had a look at the brake pads, and they were fine!! I took photo's of the pads, with about 75% of surface on them.
It seems that Hyundai Centurion is trying to make money from non-existing repairs seeing that the car is on a service plan which they don't profit from??
