I rented a car from Thrifty - on return I was happy to pay for the refueling, along with the 10% levy which they indicated they would charge.
However, they billed me for significantly more that the specific car's fuel tank could hold. Furthermore, I added 17c to the government regulated price per liter - even though they claim they fill at a normal fuel station.
I have been trying for almost two weeks to get a copy of the fuel slip that shows the actual amount pumped, along with the price per liter as charged by the filling station - no luck.
They offered to give me a refund - but they were unwilling to tell me what the refund was for.
This for me deeper than the few rands extra I coughed up. To inflate the retail price per liter for fuel is an offense and I verified this with the Department of Energy. How many people on a daily basis get charged this inflated rate and they never pick this up?
