We are an anti-crime anti-drugs organization based in East London that conducts awareness campaigns at various schools and communities around the Eastern Cape. In 2009 December we bought a Renault Sandero United from a NLDTF grant.
On the 21 September 2013 while standing at a red robot, two cars travelling the opposite direction collided and the driver of one lost control and crashed into ours. We had suspended our insurance premiums as the NPO didn't have funds and we were all working without salaries.
Estimated damage to our car is R60 000. We then approached Renault SA requesting a donation of parts which would cost them just under R20 000, we would then pay the panel beater negotiated labour cost. Their Vice President declined.
Not long ago the same VP offered Cooked in Africa a profit making privately owned production company sponsorship deal worth R6 million to run Braai Master, a show running on SABC 3 for which they are going get paid lots of monies. We are disappointed as a customer that Renault would rather line the pockets of private individuals to make a profit than assist an NPO with the recent spate of incidences of assults, stabbing and murders in our schools
