Earn A Car
Unfair Repossesion

I entered into a Rent-to-buy agreement with Earnacar on the 20th of July and paid R15250 DEPOSIT and R1543 pro rata installement for the same month. On the 8th of October 2013, they sent a driver to my workplace to reposses the car because they had detected a drunken driving conviction of 2010 from my fingerprints. After the repossession no one contacted me again to explain what would happen next about my deposit given that I had only rented their car for about two months. My problem is, if they know very well that a negative fingerprint report will result in a client not being legible to hire their car, then why do they go on to accept clients' deposits before the outcome of the fingerprint report is out? It now looks like a where they just take people's deposits and then reposses their cars at the slightest opportunity. I have talked to one Len de Klerk from their customer service department, who sounds quite helpful and understanding and he has promised to engage one the Directors with the view of refunding me at least 75% of my deposit which would be quite fair in my opinion, but no one seems to bother to contact me if I don't contact them.
