I visit Shell Rooihuiskraal twice weekly for fuel spending approximately R900 at every instance. On 6 October 2013, I visited the station to buy R20 airtime for my helper and other few grocery items. When I presented my Bluebean Standard Bank credit card to pay the cashier advised me that the station had implemented a new policy - that they only accept cash for Airtime and Electricity purchases. I informed the cashier that this was an inconvenience as customers would need to draw cash at the ATM only to pay these and still use their debit or credit cards to pay for the rest of the items. I then proceeded to the ATM situated within the store to draw cash. I inserted the card and after imputing pin the ATM jammed and swallowed my card. I called for the manager and was advised the manager was not available and was given his cellphone. I called the manager and he had the most horrible attitude, telling me there was nothing he could do. The station manager refused to give me the franchisee's contact details. It was during this conversation that 2 SMS came through on my phone confirming 2 cash withdrawals on my card at Wierdapark Square totaling R5000. I'm troubled and horrified.
