Mercedes-Benz South Africa
SHOCKING service and

Two months after a routine service, my vehicle engine light came on and I took it into the service centre. I was told that it was probably a problem with my exhaust so I took into Hi-Q to have the problem assessed. They confirmed it was the exhaust but said that it was extremely unusual to have a problem like that on a new vehicle (3 years old) and that it was a factory defect. My MB service advisor suggested I contact MB South Africa who were more concerned with the financial contract and motor plan details than the actual problem with the vehicle. I spoke to MB South Africa 3 times and was offered 3 different causes for the exhaust problem. When it was clear that this was about denying their accountability, I called service managers at other MB service centers anonymously and asked their advice as to what the cause of the problem could be and ALL 3 service managers said that it was not something which should have happened in a vehicle with such low mileage.

It's funny how when the call is anonymous and financial info is irrelevant, the experts agree its a vehicle defect.
MB South Africa aren't even confident enough in their ruling to provide the name of their "expert"!
