My fianc? recently contacted the Budget call centre to confirm that if she booked a car online via Travelstart utilising my credit card, she would be able to utilise the rental car as a second driver without me being present to collect the car, all i had to do was go to a Budget car rental office and complete some documentation.
i visited the Sandton budget office and was assisted by Lovedelia. who informed that as the booking was paid by a central payment department that my fianc? would have to be accompanied by myself to collect the vehicle. i informed her that this was not the information that we were given by the call centre, and that as a customer who does not have significant knowledge of the internal workings of the car rental industry, the process of payment should in no way impact whether i should or should not be present. i then took a call to confirm with my fianc? that this was in fact the correct situation, during which Lovedelia left the office telling her staff to tell me it was a billing issue and she could not assist further. This level of service is not acceptable as well as being unprofessional, especially considering the error lay with budget in the first place
