One of our trucks, fully laden with expensive tools & materials, broke down early on Friday morning on the way to an urgent job. We phoned around for a workshop that could work on the truck that same day and this supplier confirmed he would do so. We delivered the truck there at approximately 9h00 am. The person receiving confirmed that he would contact us before 12h00 to confirm that the truck would be ready that day. If this was not possible, we would have to fetch our equipment as there was a risk of over the weekend.
After we left there, my assistant told me that someone from the workshop had told him that they had no intention of working on the truck that day and we would not see the truck until Tuesday afternoon if we were lucky.
I then phoned the owner, a Mr Johann Pieterse who was extremely rude to me for daring to complain about this misleading tactic. He then put the phone down on me with the comment "Let me know if I should work on the truck or tow it to outside my gates". When I could not contact him telephonically, we drove there to fetch the truck, only to find the truck abandoned outside the property with all our equipment available for anyone to.
