On return of my rental car, the car was as clean as when I received it. First Car rental then proceeded to charge me R200 for a valet service which I feel was totally unnecessary. There was possible only a bottle of water and a paper or two left inside. I filed a complaint, and the following was stated:
A valet is when the vehicles interior cannot be cleaned by our staff with our standard cleaning equipment, and needs to be sent to a company that specialises in removing marks/stains.
A vehicle is not sent for a valet unless it is absolutely necessary as the vehicle needs to be taken off fleet for at least 2 days to be cleaned with specialised equipment and then it needs to dry before it can be utilised for another rental. This is therefore a costly to the company so we try our best to clean the vehicle ourselves before sending it for a valet.
The car did not need a valet service.
I am disgusted by the way First Car Rental charged for this. I would like a refund or will never use First Car Rental again, and will also spread the word.
