My BMW was booked and taken in to repair the front right door window-winder which was making a terrible noise. After awhile I was approached by the personnel who advised that the front left door AND back left door winders also needed replacing at a total cost of approx R10 000.00!!! These windows are hardly ever used (being a one person car) so it is unlikely that they are worn out. I advised that just the original window-winder be replaced. This took about 1-1 1/2 hours.
On completion of the job, account paid, and I get in the car to leave, I notice 2 things - suddenly my right front light is not working and my petrol tank is empty!!! The left front headlight had been replaced by Donford about 2 months ago - strange co-incidence that the other light should suddenly fail now!! The petrol gauge was on 1/4 when I arrived at the garage.
Personnel claimed no knowledge of these sudden problems. The headlight had to be replaced and the offer of R100 petrol "in the interests of good customer relationships" was turned down as poor compensation. I have used Donford Motors for many years and have had good service from them before but now there is something VERY strange going on here!!
