My son and a friend (10 years old) went to Spur to have an ice cream as this is supposed to be a "family" restaurant. When they wanted to go in they were told they are not allowed. When I got there and asked to speak to the manager I spoke in Afrikaans as it is my right. He immediate got an attitude and told me that if I didn't speak in English he'll start speaking in his language to the amusement of the waiters. According to the person I spoke to on the toll free number (unfortunately can't remember his name) he said that the kids were old enough to go in by themselves. So either the person on the phone or the so called manager doesn't know the rules. I just find it terribly amusing that Spur at Margate and another well known restaurant in the Lambton area doesn't have a problem with the children eating an ice cream on their own "as long as they have the necessary funds to pay for their purchase". In future I'll rather pay a little extra at a "non-family" restaurant where my child will also be seen as a paying customer.
