We made the mistake of arranging our company year-end function at the Le Pommier restaurant situated on Zorgvliet wine estate in the Banghoek valley just outside of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape. Although the setting, surrounded by mountains and vineyards, is lovely the service was incredibly slow. When we finally got so far that we could actually order food almost nothing on the menu was available any longer. E.g. there were NO steaks left, which is almost half of the items on their menu, and even fish and chips was sold out... The waiter returned no less than 4 times to inform us that items we had ordered were no longer available and that we should order something else. The irony is that the restaurant was not even a third full! This poor level of service and stock management is due to nothing but laziness and bad management by the staff. All 8 of us left, 3 hours later, having eaten not what we wanted but what was left, highly disgusted. What should've been a lovely year-end send off for all was completely ruined by the restaurant's incompetence. Avoid this horrible restaurant...
