A restaurant may be know for their good food but when it comes to poor service, it can destroy a restaurant! I had booked 1.5 weeks ago for a 10 seater table at Salle E Pepe in Morningside View Centre which was confirmed. At 6h30 yesterday evening, half an hour before our arrival, I received a call from the restaurant manager, confirming our reservation. As 10 of us arrived at the restaurant we found that the restaurant was full and our table had been given away... it was literally 19h02!!! When discussing with the manager I was told that they do not take bookings and that it was a mistake, and calling me half an hour before arrival to confirm the booking was also an error (makes no sense). He proceeded to explain that a customer became 'very aggressive' and so he gave our table to him and that 'there was nothing he could do'. The manager pointed to a make-shift table which was not set with no heater on the pavement in the parking lot... we did not receive an apology-NOTHING! I have no problem with a mix up/human error, but to receive no apology or some form of remorse was shocking. Just because you may serve good food does not excuse disgusting service and turning down 10 CUSTOMERS!
