On the 4 August 2013 between 6.00 pm - 6.30 pm we were at the Capello's at International departures at OR Tambo airport. While we were eating we noticed an employee called "Pilot" becoming very aggressive with his fellow waiters. He was working at the cappuccino machine station. Pilot flung a cup of boiling milk onto the face of a waiter and then continued working and berating the staff. All of this was done in front of customers.
The general manager didn't do anything to curb the situation, he allowed Pilot to continue working until we raised a concern that the aggressive individual should be removed from the premises, nor would anyone tell us if the waiter who was burnt on his face was alright or not. The GM just said he will sort it out.
It is unacceptable for people to be treated in this manner in South Africa. Hope fully this has been caught on the camers in OR Tambo. The person Pilot should not be allowed to work there, and from the GM's uninterested reaction, it spells out to me that his staff is treated very badly.
I would like a report back as to what action has been taken against Pilot and if the burnt staff member has received medical attention.
