We walked into Mugg and Bean Gateway. We always come here and always receive a warm reception (well almost always) and great service. This time it seemed like we were totally ignored. A waiter noticed a large group of people behind us and since there were only 2 of us told us to walk upstairs since we wanted to use the plug points for a laptop. We walked in and he stormed past us to go to the top and although the table was empty he told us it was reserved. The customers did not want to go up but he insisted they do since it meant a large table therefore a large tip as compared to having a table for 2. He refused to allow us to sit at that table which had a plug point but instead let the people who walked in just take the table (not at their choice). He also made another couple move over so he could accommodate his "larger more profitable" table. This is disgusting and not at all how a customer should be treated regardless of the potential size of their bill. Just for his info, we tipped our waitress just as much as a table of 5 would.
