I went to this restaurant on Friday for lunch, and was told when I got to the restaurant that they do not have a liquor licence yet. We then asked the waiter can we purchase wine to have with our lunch, to which he said it will be no problem. There was only 1 waiter serving the whole restaurant, and the service was pathetic.
When the bill came they charged me R30 for corkage. I refused to pay it as they do not have a wine selection or even better yet, they do NOT stock wine at all. I asked the waiter to remove the R30 from the bill. At no stage did I raise my voice or made any type of scene. Next minute the manager was standing next to me and said he believes I have a problem with the corkage fee, and I replied yes. Well he then said he has a problem with wine. I had not comment and left the restaurant.
He then told me friend who was still sitting at the table, that I will never ever be welcome back at Warm and Glad because I am rude. I am absolutely livid. Does he even know what customer service is and what a rude person sounds like. How can you charge for corkage if you do not stock wine? Customer service at its worst!
