My sister and I went to dinner at the Ocean Basket Killarney Branch yesterday. I was appalled at the high prices of their beverages. One glass of wine served in the SMALLEST wine glass I have seen in a long time, was actually priced at the price of a bottle of the wine served. I asked the manager how they could justify charging me, the customer, the equivalent price of a bottle of wine, for one glass of wine. I buy this bottle of wine myself, hence I knew the price. At the supermarkets this wine goes for R40.00 a bottle. I was being charged R40 PER GLASS!! I find this a total rip-off and said I was going to complain. The restaurant have increased their wine list, and another a glass of chardonnay which retails at R50/R56 a bottle was also listed at R46 PER GLASS, also close to the price of a full bottle! A Coke was priced at R16 per can. Now everyone needs to make some profit, but when 2 cokes and a glass of wine come to the same amount at two meals and a salad, there is something wrong here. I for one, will not be going back to that restaurant in a hurry!
