Outsurance unfairly increases premiums

I claimed for repairs for my motorbike to the value of R35 000 but outsurance wanted to pay only R20000 for repairs or alternatvely R30000 to scrap the bike. I initially was under the impression that the bike was insured for around R45 000 which I thought would be maintained, however I was told that the the depreciates. I found this to be very unfair since my premiums increased without my risk changing. Surely this must be illegal
