For the past few weeks we have been receiving a phone call from a ABSA collector, stating that our account is in arrears and that the account had been forwarded to the legal department for legal action. We have gone to the bank, got our bank statements and noticed that the debit orders for the personal loan had been going of monthly as scheduled without any problems. We have tried on Friday and today to get hold of the person who had been phoning and threatening us, however it seems to be classified info. This morning I spoke to a very nice lady at the collections outbound department, who explained to me that should an account be in areas for 6 months and more than the account gets handed over to the legal department. She then checked and confirmed that our account had been handed over, which means that we are now responsible for all the collections, interest and legal fees. Then she confirmed that the system shows that all debit orders had been paid excluding for 1 month January 2013.
