I have been with First for women since September 2010 without claiming once! I had an accident yesterday were another person drove into the back of my car.
When I phoned today after being transferred and cut off numerous times I was able to finally put through the claim. I was informed that my excess was R2500. I then phoned the premium department who immediately without any questions changed my premium lower and then changed my excess to R900.
I then again phoned the claims department in hope that the excess will be lowered to R900 as I have been overpaying for 2 years and was never informed that you have the option to pay a higher premium for a lower excess amount. The lady informed me that I still need to pay R2500 excess because the claim was put in 15 minutes prior to changing my premium and excess.
I do not understand why I have to pay R2500 excess if the accident was not my fault??? The lady said that if I do not want to pay R2500 excess I can get into contact with the "guilty party's" insurance on my own and claim through them directly. Excuse me, why have I then be overpaying First for woman if I have to deal with this situation myself?
Will be changing insurance!!
