I have several bank cards at various banks and have never encountered being "robbed by a bank" until recently. During the last week on two occasions, using two different Standard Bank credit cards, when I transacted for R 1000.00 withdrawals at the ATM's, my accounts were debited but no cash was available. The machine returned my card and went off-line before the money was dispensed. I have been struggling since to get action - only complaint-acknowledgement replies with references 33156683 and 33140381 and one incompetent reply addressing only one issue was that I must wait 15 business days for a reply. I did encounter a similar ATM problem a while ago at Nedbank, but the ATM immediately cancelled the transaction (both a debit and immediate credit was reflected by SMS). Is it right to be placed into inconvenience due to incompetency?
