My parents has insurance with ABSA. On two different occasions my parents put in a claim and both times it was turned down for reasons out of their control. The reason for claims was foundation cracks and subsequently the walls are cracking and ceilings sagging. A representative on behalf of ABSA came out and looked at damages and said the reason for cracks in foundation is lack of paving in front of house. My parents were not happy with this as when they bought the house not once was it a requirement. They then again put in claim and the reason for it turned down again was that the gutter running down house did not direct the water away. No soil testing was done to substantiate that reason from the assessor. In the insurance policy it clearly states that they are covered against "grond verskuiwing" but it gets turned down every time. Now my parents are forced to fix the damages out of their own pocket whilst still paying insurance for this reason. They feel ABSA has failed them.
