I was contacted by Standard Bank in 2012 informing me that my Student Achiever account had been cancelled and closed. I then made arrangements with my two debits (MTN and Virgin Active) so that they would not debit this account. I was recently contacted and told that there are charges amounting to over R1000 on my account and I need to pay it. I told the operator what had happened and they insisted that the account was still active. I agreed to pay R150 per month until the charges were paid. I was told to deposit the money into the same bank account. When I tried to do this I was told that the account number did not exist. Can someone please explain what is going on? This is ridiculous!
