This is probably the 6th time in as many months that there is a major problem in our area / nationwide with trying to draw money from Standard Bank ATMs. And I don't draw cash often! The amount of time and energy and petrol spent driving around trying to locate an ATM which is functioning and then later all the calls to Standard Bank, each atleast 20 minutes long to try and get non-received withdrawals reversed or banking fees reversed when advised to use non-Standard Bank ATMs by their own call centre is ridiculous! Today I tried an Absa ATM after Standard Bank was unable to process the withdrawal and the other clients at the ATM had already unsuccessfully tried many of the other Standard Bank ATMs in the area, and now I have R 1000 off my account and no money - ATM slip said 'Transaction not authorised'. Logged query and turnaround time is 12-14 working days, Absa can't escalate it and apparently there are many queries! No problem, I'll just sit around and wait, oh and follow up... what else can we do, the bank has our money and aren't loosing anything!
