Payment considered as non payment

Dear HelloPeter,

I made a payment on my absa credit card, I paid them on the 20 December 2012. I receive information that Ive not paid my credit card, when I phone, they say they can see my payment of R1100 but they did not record it as payment but as an advance on my balance. They say its becuase I paid on the 20. My question is, is it a crime to make payment early, besides that most people paid their accounts early in december becuase we were paid early. So according to the bank I have not paid, when I've transfered an amount of R1100 to them on the 20. Where do I get another R1100. They don't want us to pay before they close statements so that they can charge us interest. This needs to be correct, a payment is a payment, and thats what I've done.
