Seeking correct information

On the 4th I spoke to my contact person Mpumi to cancel the policy I had with African Independent. My debit went off on the 15th of every month, when I cancelled I had thought it will stop on the 14th, since my December debit had been paid. On the 15th of January the debit went off and I called and was told that because I had called on the 4th, the debit will only stop from February and was told that this is how car insurance works. But I have since learnt that other car insurances do not work like that, that I can call on the 4th and have the insurance stopped on the 14th of the very month.
