I have a Platinum Cancer Policy, today I received a call to upgrade my cover and told that I will received R578000 on diagnosis of the most common women cancers.
My problem is that a friend of mine, who has been contributing since 2006, was recently diagnoses with Cervical cancer (first common of the 8 cancers known to women), she was required to have a bi-opsie done and send the results in. Her doctor advice her that the cancer was clearly a big growth and its better to have it removed than wait. She had a full hysterectomy done, all cancer removed, so possibility to return is minimal.
Guess what the policy is not paying out because it's not life threaten to her. She had to endure the cost of the operation and hospitalisation. Does this mean she and I have to die before these policies pay out one day or must we be glad that at the age of 65 we will get 50% of our premiums back?
O and all calls are recorded, so maybe Platinum life should listen to what is actually told to policy holders. Instead of saying you will get 50% back at age 65, say this policy will only pay out when you are dead!
I am cancelling my policy tomorrow!
