With regards to claim: 161703915
We had an accident with a Third Party on 7 December 2012. The Third Party obtained a quote for R4702.50 from BMW on 12 December 2012. The claim was finalized today - 75 days after the initial quote was obtained. The problem is: Santam is only willing to pay the initial quote from 12 December 2012 (R4702.50); this quote is 1.) no longer valid as quotes are normally only valid for 14 days; and 2.) the quote is /- R1500 higher than the initial quote. I should receive the latest quote this week as their car will be repaired this week.
The Third Party is now expecting the difference between what Santam is paying and the latest quote to be paid by us (the insurer). If I was the Third Party I would expect the same; as the accident was not their fault - they shouldn't have to pay a cent.
Santam - please resolve this..75 days and counting. It does not make sense to pay out on a quote that is 75 days old.
