After having used my personal information at Nedbank Centurion Mall, April 2012, a host of accounts were opened on my name. Cell C was one of them, Cell C gave me a copy of the 3 months bank statement I had used at Nedbank and it turned out it was exactly the same 1 I used at Nedbank. Needless to say that my pay slip was also a copy of that same month... the leak is clearly at Nedbank. I have reported this to Nedbank and SAPS. SAPS have made the effort to contact me a couple of times to discuss the case. Since the matter was referred to Nedbank's Risk department I have never received a single phone call from them. When I call I get told the matter is still under investigation. This is absolutely shameful for an institution as prestigious as a bank. It makes you wonder what other security breaches they are susceptible to and whether they have the capability to deal with rogue elements within their ranks. From where I stand as a very disappointed client (never doing business with Nedbank again though - I regret the day I walked through those doors) it seems as though Nedbank is protecting its own.
