Over drawn savings account R10 000.00

I received a letter of demand from Nedbank with regards to my overdrawn savings account, i made contact with nedbank the feedback i received was that i was suppose to close the account. i was contacted by Stupel & Berman Attorneys weeks ago with regards to this account demanding that i make the payment for the overdrawn amount, i requested the bank statement wich was made available for me. according to the statement nedbank payed my debit orders without any arrenegemnt from my side. according to my knowledge if there are no funds in the account debit orders return unpiad and bank charges a small fee for unpaid debit order, so how can they pay for 6 months if there were no funds in the account? if its banks charges they cant amount to over R10 000. this account is a saving and never had a ovedaft facility, nedbank took adavantage of the fact that i worked for Oldmutual at that time, salary commision based, they paid with the hope that salary will 1day be paid into account. i didnot receive any call about this until i received a letter of demand. i made contacts with several branches they tell me about banks charges but in the statement its not bank charges, they paid on my behalf
