I have withdrawn R1 000 cash from a Capitec ATM machine at Cape Quarter Green Point this morning inside SPAR. The machine gave me an error response without giving me the cash. I tried a second time to withdraw the cash, but got an error response again. Standard Bank advised me via sms to my cell that two withdrawals were made on my account of R1 000 each.
I am a Standard Bank Prestige Customer and immediately called the dedicated telephone line to report this error, as the ATM did not give me the cash, but according to the bank, R2 000 was out of my account. I was told by the call centre agent to wait 24 hours to see if Capitec realise the mistake and then they will transfer the money back into my account.
I have logged this to Standard Bank Prestige customer service via email twice already, but received no response from them.
Does Standard Bank really expect me to sit and wait for 24 hours to see if Capitec will automatically refund the R2 000 into my bank account? I pay high banking fees to be a Prestige Standard Bank customer, but I do not get prestige service, so not sure why I have to pay for a service that I don't receive.
