My life policy lapsed. I made peace with having to start a new one, once I have enough income again. I realized that it would probably cost more per month but a sudden loss of income is not something people plan on.
However, last week Momentum contacted me to reinstate my policy. They mentioned an option on the phone for writing off all the lost payments and simply restarting (my policy hadn't been going for long). First I couldn't believe this option, but when they assured me it was real, I took it. All this was on a "recorded" phone call, by an agent called "Peace".
I agreed that they could debit the normal payment (R190) from my account on 5th February.
Today I saw that they debited R950.60 (which is more, I believe, than all the lapsed payments) from my account on the 6th.
This represents half of what I need to feed my family of 5 on for the month of February, and was absolutely NOT as agreed. I also resent the policy of doing everything by phone, I much prefer email. Telephone conversations are a one-way street to the client of his proof.
I DON'T want Momentum to call me - they must replace the money and contact me by email! In writing please.
