Sharing personal information with third parties

A company called direct access called me today. They claimed that Toyota financial services is their partner and they would like to ask:
1. If I would like to take out car insurance with them
2. To please confirm my personal details

I would like to understand if toyota financial services did in fact share my personal details and that of my vehicle I purchased with direct axis. Its fairly annoying if this is the case cause I receive emails, physical letters and telephone calls from direct axis for loan offers and insurance.
