I am a Chairperson of the Trustees at Pebblestone Creek River Estate. We have had our roofs leak after the storms from around October 2013. We have insurance with Santam for our complex. Our package includes: BUILDINGS COMBINED SECTION, which includes Special Perils, i.e. storm/water impact. So the roof leakages are clearly included in our package.
We attempted claiming our leaking roofs due to storm and there was ONLY one claim that was paid. All the others were unfortunately rejected by Santam. They accused us of not maintaining our roof. My question is how where we supposed to maintain to ensure the storm does not affect our roofs? So all similar incidences where also maintenance? And how do they justify paying for 1 claim and rejecting the others? Lastly our managing agent called and they wanted all owners affected to make separate phone calls. I found this disturbing as we have a managing agent for these admin issues.
In addition; all insurance companies were reported to have worked on weekends to ensure their clients are well taken care of. We were not. We have never NOT-paid our premiums in the past 7yrs, so for Santam to come around reject our valid claims is unacceptable.
