Account still not closed

After being with Standard Bank for 6 years, I felt it necessary to make a change as they were no longer fulfilling my needs as a client. I had a loan with them that I paid in full, and closed. Thereafter I proceeded to the bank to make payment on my arrears and completely close my account. I did this in June 2013. I was advised that my account was closed by the consultant that assisted me. The following month I received my statement via post indicating I was owing the monthly charge (R99.99) for Elite Banking cheque account.. The months continued and I still received post with arrears piling up. I then had to take time out of my busy schedule to go to the branch (Claremont, where the account was opened) to query this. The previous consultant I spoke to was nowhere to be found and so another assisted me. She checked on the system and saw that indeed I had 'closed' my account but somehow it had managed to 'reopen itself'.. I did not know accounts could do that... Nonetheless, she advised that she would reverse the charges and close the account again. She even said that she would send me proof of this via email. Now January 2013, I am still waiting for the account closure
